Agriterra is Dutch based international development agency founded and steered by the farmers’ organisations and agricultural cooperatives in the Netherlands. Agriterra has been registered and licensed by the FDRE Charities & Societies Agency as a foreign Charity in accordance with the Charities & Societies proclamation N. 621/2009 with accreditation n. 3513 issued on 5th October 2015. Its mandate is to strengthen producers’ organisations worldwide. Among other activities it supports co-operative farmer-led economic development in developing countries. Agriterra mainly acts as a facilitating agency and provides advisory services to farmer-led business initiatives

Vacancy
Agriterra is searching for an enthusiastic, disciplined, and well skilled person to fill the vacant position of Finance and Administrative Officer. The Finance and Administrative Officer is responsible for the overall financial administration of the organization and for appropriate and on-time reporting to internal and external bodies. On top of these responsibilities, the Finance and Administrative Officer is also responsible for the HR management
    Implementing and continuous updating sound financial administration at Agriterra Ethiopia office.
    Compiling financial reports for Agriterra HQ, CSA and other external institutions.
    Developing contracts with farmer organisations for grants.
    Assessing financial reports from beneficiaries.
    Preparing vacancy announcements and implementing HR procedures related to employment contract, insurance, payroll, and tax payments.
    Taking care for proper financial data collection, registration, and analysis of accounting resources.
    Coordinating the annual budget preparation, follow-up the proper execution of the budget, preparing annual, quarterly and monthly cash flow forecasts, advising the management of Agriterra on financial resource utilization.
    Reviewing petty cash payment requests and reconciling funds
    Help establish efficient and transparent procurement processes and policies
    Encoding data into QuickBooks on a timely basis & produce report to stakeholders
    Focal person during internal and external audits by availing documents, information and responses
    Responsible for transportation management
    Handling day-to-day financial affairs, management and administration.
    Ensuring the appropriate internal control is in place to ensure resources are safeguarded from misuse and fraud and rules and regulations in connection with financial management are adhered with.
    Follow-up grants, advance settlements and reconciliation of accounts.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, education, experience and skills

    As a minimum, the Finance and Administrative Officer will hold a Bachelor degree in accounting, business economics, business administration/management science, financial management or the like.
    Eight years and above experience in a comparable position.
    Expertise in financial management and NGO experience is highly desirable.
    Expertise on reporting to CSA and other government institutions is a high valued advantage.
    Experience with cooperative and farmer organization is a plus
    Good awareness of developments, annual reporting and accountability in financial affairs.
    Excellent communication skills and well skilled in speaking and writing in English.
    A robust personality combined with the ability to work independently.
    Demonstrable experience in client-friendly and result-oriented service provision.
    Full understanding of and experience in working with QuickBooks accounting software.

 Performance evaluation
The employee will work under supervision of Agriterra Headquarter in the Netherlands and Country Representative for Agriterra in Ethiopia, and he/she will support and work closely with the 6 other Agriterra Agribusiness advisors in Ethiopia. The employee will at the start be offered a 45 days probation contract. During this probation period regular evaluation of the employee will be done in order to establish areas of further development. If the employee shows sufficient capacity and work ethos, Agriterra will offer a 1 year employment contract with possibility of extending the contract after the first year.

 General conditions

    The employee is expected to work full-time for Agriterra, 5 days a week (Monday-Friday).
    The Employee will be provided with a laptop computer and access to Agriterra’s ICT network and systems. The laptop computer will remain property of Agriterra and will be returned after contract closure.
    There is a communication and transport allowance.
    Agriterra takes care of a health and life insurance for the employee.
    If the employee shows excellent performance, additional benefits such as trainings can be offered.
