ROLE PURPOSE: Under the guidance of the Regional Project Manager based in the Hub and the DCOP at the Country Office level, the position holder will be responsible for coordinating the MCSP-CBNC activities in the respective zone and woredas. S/he will be responsible to provide technical and operational support in the overall implementation of MCSP-CBNC project and strengthening of ICCM project which contributes to the reduction of neonatal and under five morbidity and mortality in the target zones.  S/he will liaise with and work in coordination with government and non-governmental partners in the zone in implementing the project activities; and will serve as the focal point for the project in zonal level fora.  S/he will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining working relationship with project partners to ensure synergy and maximize resources.

KEY Roles and Responsibilities

Project coordination

    With guidance and support from the Regional Project Manager, s/he will be responsible to coordinate the implementation of MCSP-CBNC program in the Zone; creates synergy and efficient working relationship with IFHP staff at the zone and woreda level to ensure smooth program implementation.
    Leads /coordinates program launch at zonal level; supports project officers in the respective woreda level project launches.
    Supports capacity building of the zonal health departments, the woreda health offices and health facilities of program target zones to enable them successfully implement CBNC
    Works closely with the Zonal Health Departments in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the overall CBNC activities in the zones
    Provide technical and operational support to the Zonal Health Departments; coordinates and supports the conduct of joint supportive supervision to health workers at health centers and health extension workers at health posts.
    Works closely with the Zonal Health Departments and Woreda Health Offices to ensure availability and reliable supply of CBNC commodities and supplies for the successful implementation of the program
    Ensures that all CBNC, IMNCI and other trainings are of high standard and based on the national implementation plans.
    Ensures that regular supportive supervision of HEWs and health facilities, and review meetings are as per the schedule and are coordinated with IFHP led supervisions /review meetings
    Participates in the development of the work plan, ensures the achievement of specific assigned objectives.
    Provides guidance and support to MCSP-CBNC staff in the woredas in meeting project objectives.
    Supports demand creation activities in the Zone through ensuring timely initiation and implementation of agreed upon activities
    Supports the implementation of M&E activities as well as assessments and operations research as required
Reporting

    Prepares and submits timely activity report to the Regional Project Manager as per agreed format and timeline.
    Document & submits findings and recommendations of field visits for follow-up action.
    Contributes to documentation of good practices and lessons learnt.
    Prepares any other report that may be required to fulfil the government or donor requirement

 Staff Supervision and management
    Supervises Project Officers
    Approves performance objective of subordinates and conduct annual performance review. Provide staff coaching and mentoring
 External coordination and representation

    Building strong partnership and working closely with Zonal and Woreda Health Offices, as well as other non-governmental partners
    Serves as the project focal person in the Zone and represents the project in working groups and partnership fora as required
    Performs any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the unit head/his or her supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    BSc in public health or health related field
    At least 4 years of relevant work experience in MNCH of which at least two are within the NGO environment
    Computer literacy in all the Microsoft office applications, and internet literacy are required
    Proven ability to analyze data and write reports that are of high quality
    Trained on IMNCI / iCCM /CBNC
    Familiarity with the national IMNCI/ iCCM /CBNC program implementation
    Proven experience in organizing and facilitating trainings
    Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal)
    Experience in working with multicultural team and complex projects
    Fluency in English, writing and speaking
    Knowledge of the local language
    Ability to work in team, strong negotiation and analytical skills; ability to multitask and work under pressure and tight deadlines.
    Willingness to travel outside of the base for up to 50% of his/her time
