Job Description:
Pathfinder International/Ethiopia (PI/E) is a non-for-profit organization dedicated to improve access to, and the quality of, reproductive health and family planning information and services in Ethiopia. PI/E has a special focus on adolescent and youth by recognizing their various needs. PI/E strengthens health systems, facilities and technical capacities at different levels to respond to the needs of adolescents and youth. Moreover PIE supported interventions that enabled adolescent girls to remain in the school and become aware of their sexual and reproductive health rights.
Currently, PI/E in partnership with IPE Global is preparing to implement the pilot phase of. Ethiopia Safe Space Program for Adolescent girls (ESSP) a program owned by Federal Ministry of Health with funding from UKALD, technically supported by Girl Effect Ethiopia. The program aims at improving Personal, Social, Health, Safety, Education and Financial outcomes for adolescent girls aged 11- 14 nationally across Ethiopia in an environment where girls are positively valued in society. The pilot phase of the program is going to be implemented in Amhara and Oromia regional states. In Amhara, it will be implemented in South Gondar Zone- 3 Woredas (Dera, Woreta and Debretabor) covering 40 kebeles. In Oromia region the project will be implemented in North Shoa Zone 3 Woredas (Girar Jarso, Wuchale and Debrelibanos).
Accordingly, PIE has open vacancy for the following 12 positions (2 Zonal coordinators, 2 Woreda Coordinators and 8 Kebele supervisors). The following are the details of the required posts:
1. Job Title: South Gondar Zone Coordinator North Showa Zone Coordinator
REPORTS TO: REGIONAL COORDINATOR
Duty Station: Debretabor ( For South Gondar), Fitche ( North Showa)
Duration of Employment Contract: 14 Months
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in health and social sciences related fields
Must have minimum of five years of experience in Reproductive Health and Gender related activities. Experience in practical fieldwork in collaboration with existing government departments of Health, Women’s and Children affairs
Must have strong facilitation skills for community based gender related programming and catalyzing different stakeholders for adolescent girls issues
Must have strong writing and communication skills both in Amharic and English. Knowledge of local languages of the operating region will be an added advantage.
Skills and experience in computer applications and utilization is mandatory.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision and have strong interpersonal skills and skills to promote teamwork.
Must demonstrate strong interest and commitment to adolescent girl issues, gender equity actions and abandonment of HTPs that affect the health and wellbeing of women and girls.
Must have demonstrable personal integrity and honesty and must have pleasant personality.
Must be willing to travel frequently to Woredas and Kebeles in the region.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the guidance and close supervision of the Regional. Coordinator of ESSP, the Zonal Coordinator is responsible for the overall implementation of ESSP Project strategies, activities and supervise Woreda coordinators/he is responsible to closely work with Zonal Health office, Women and Children Affairs, Education bureau and other stakeholders and other interventions on adolescent girls in the area
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate different sensitization programs for different sectors on ESSP
Build the capacities of ESSP implementers and stakeholders for eg. Mentors, HEW, HDA leaders and others on ESSP curriculum
Provide technical assistance to Zonal Health office, Woreda coordinators and Kebele Supervisors to conduct sensitizations and coordinate safe space sessions.
Produce monthly and quarterly reports jointly with Woreda Coordinators and Kebele supervisors to submit to Regional Coordinator
Provide technical assistance in the integration adolescent girls issues at the zonal level and support review meetings that bring multiple stakeholders together
Work with Zonal and Woreda Health office to secure the necessary support for the implementation of ESSP activities
Strengthen ESSP network and partnership in the Zone and attends relevant government and partner’s meetings to further develop collaboration and to obtain new and improved adolescent girls approaches, methods and ideas.
Travels to Woredas and Kebeles in the Zone to provide technical support to Government sectors (MOH, Ministry of Women and Children affairs, Education office )Engage in supportive supervision and follow up visits to ESSP sites to identify gaps and solution in the implementation of ESSP activities
Support gathering of data to generate evidences and best practices in the areas of ESSP interest and approaches and collaborate with Monitoring and Evaluation Officers on data generation and reporting.
Undertakes other tasks assigned by his /her supervisor.
2. Job Title: Woreda Coordinator (Amhara) Woreda Coodinator (Oromia)
Reports To: Zonal Coordinator
Duty Station: Debretabor ( For South Gondar), Fitche (North Showa)
Duration of Employment Contract: 14 Months

Provide technical assistance to Woreda Health office, Women’s and Children Affairs offices and Kebele Supervisors to conduct sensitizations and coordinate safe space sessions.

Duration of Employment Contract: 12 Months
Requirements:
Diploma in health and social sciences related fields
Must have minimum of three years of experience in implementing adolescent related reproductive health, gender and education activities in respective localities.
Experience in practical organization and implementation of community level activities in collaboration with existing government departments of Health, Women’s and Children affairs
Must have strong facilitation skills for community based gender related programming and catalyzing different stakeholders for adolescent girls issues
Must have strong writing and communication skills both in the local language in the intervention Kebeles.
Skills and experience in computer applications and utilization is mandatory.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision and have strong interpersonal skills and skills to promote teamwork.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the guidance and close supervision of the Woreda Coordinator of ESSP, the Kebele Supervisor is responsible for the overall community level implementation of ESSP activities and liaises with community structures, mentors, parents, schools and other interventions on adolescent girls in the respective 5 kebles which he/she will be responsible for.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the implementation of activities ESSP in 5 kebeles which he/she will be assigned once position is assumed
Co-lead the process of recruitment and selection of mentors, adolescent girls who participate in the ESSP
Provide technical support to mentors in each of the 5 kebeles to regularly conduct safe space session and also supervise them when they conduct the session
Coordinate different community gate keepers sensitization programs, parental consultations, boys engagement activities
Ensure the convening of safe space sessions that brings together adolescent girls and mentors
Engage in the capacity building process of Mentors, HEW, HDA leaders and others who involve in ESSP curriculum implementation
Liaise with Health extension workers, Kebele administrator, schools and parents in the step by step implementation of ESSP interventions
Produce monthly and quarterly reports jointly with the Woreda coordinator to submit to Regional Coordinator
Strengthen ESSP network and partnerships in the intervention Kebelses and attend relevant government and partner’s meetings to further develop collaboration.
Travels to locations where Safe Space Sessions convene in each Kebeles
Support gathering of data to generate evidences and best practices in the areas of ESSP interest and approaches
Timely inform and collaboratively manage .drop-out of mentors and girls from the safe space sessions
Undertakes other tasks assigned by his /her supervisor.
SALARY: For all of the above positions will be as per salary scale of the organization.
