Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is a world leading organization committed to the treatment and reintegration of patients suffering from Obstetric Fistula and the training and deployment of qualified midwives to prevent Obstetric Fistula and other child birth injuries.

HFE is founded in 1974 by Drs Catherine and Reginald Hamlin who have been caring for the women of Ethiopia for almost 40 years. In addition to our main hospital in Addis Ababa we have 5 regional hospitals, rehabilitation, and reintegration center and a midwifery school. We also deploy midwives into 25 health centers across the country and provide mentoring and other support services to these health centers.
The Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital would like to invite potential applicants for the following position:
Job Title: General Practitioner
Report to: Medical Director

Experience: 3 years relevant experience

    Care and detail orientation required
Job Summary:- Provision of non-specialist medical care to staff, families and fistula patients.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    To investigate/diagnose and treat general medical problems of staff and staff families and facilitate referrals to outside hospitals when necessary.
    Identify new fistula patients based on diagnosis and admit them.
    To perform work-up and pre-operation diagnosis based on checklist
    To screen all other patients in outpatient department and to refer them to appropriate hospitals when necessary
    To treat post-operative patients based on expressed and observed symptoms and provide post-operative advice.
    To respond accordingly to emergency situations based on duty schedule
    To conduct general check-ups for new employees, family members eligible for private care and midwifery students based on AAFH medical cheek-up list
    To facilitate referrals when necessary and provide records of the staff members to medical director when necessary.
