Job Description:
The Network of the Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) is a national network of non-governmental organization established in 2003 with the objectives of ensuring the economic, social, political and legal rights and empowerment of women in Ethiopia. Currently our organization is going to coordinate a project “Ensuring realization of socio economic rights of women through enhancing capacity of women’s associations, and promoting dialogues in good governance and women’s rights protection”. The project has been financed from the support of European Union Civil Society Fund II which will be implemented in Amhara, Gambella regions and federal level. Hence, NEWA is looking for a project Coordinator and communication officer to be based in Addis Ababa.

1. Position Title: Project Coordinator

Job Location: Addis Ababa with frequent travel to regions

Duties & Responsibilities:

    Coordinate, manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the project.
    Prepare annual, quarter, monthly, etc planning activities of the project
    Organize, manage and conduct various training activities and mentoring activities for local institutions in project implementation areas.
    Play a leading role in the process of supervision and evaluation of project at the grass root level.
    Prepare quarter and annual project related and financial reports to be submitted to government bodies and donors.
    Play leading role in providing technical support for implementing partners at regions
    Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager Qualifications and skills
    Bachelors degree in the field of Social Sciences(Sociology, psychology, social work, development studies) and at least six years relevant experience
    Masters Degree in the field of Social Science (Sociology, psychology, social work, development studies)and minimum of four years relevant experience
    Good interpersonal and communication skills, Solid judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of teamwork

2. Position Title: Communication Officer

Job Location: Addis Ababa with frequent travel to regions
Duties & Responsibilities;
    Act as a spokesperson of the organization
    Plan public relation programs for the project including preparing budgets;
    Liaison with the print and television media to respond to inquiries, arranging press meets, prepare and distribute news releases and make statements about the project progress and the organization;
    Takes care of all the publications, newsletters, brochures, poster and other related documents of the project and the organization
    Ensure there is adequate media coverage to all deliberations of the project and the organization;
    Write speeches, prepare visual aids and make public presentations;
    Manage production of documentary films and audio electronic materials for awareness and publicity of the project and the organization;
    Promote the project and the organization in the website of the organization
Qualifications and skills
    BA in Communication and Journalism/English /Social Sciences and minimum of 6 years experience
    Master’s degree in Communication and Journalism/English and Foreign Language/Social Sciences and minimum of 4 years experience as PR and communication officer
Salary: As per the organization scale
